The Hospitality and travel industry has practiced various forms of Revenue Management for 30 years now. Currently most of the major hotel chains have a revenue management system, and many argue that the position of the revenue manager is one of the most important roles at the hotel.
The purpose of our Revenue Management SIG is to share knowledge and support in the areas of pricing, inventory and channel management, information technology, forecasting, human resources, consumer behavior and other RM related areas of application. We hope to increase the awareness of our academic community about revenue management issues, its growing importance to the hospitality and tourism industry, and to share important trends, tools, and techniques in teaching and researching this topic.
The annual meeting at the ICHRIE conference is a great networking opportunity for members interested in RM issues. Our planned activities are geared towards facilitating discussion among members, interaction with industry speakers, and hands on software demonstrations.
