2012 ICHRIE Career Advancement Academy
International CHRIE will be offering three full-day professional development consortiums through the ICHRIE Career Advancement Academy. These full-day seminars will be offered individually at the 2012 Annual ICHRIE Summer Conference in Providence, Rhode Island USA on Wednesday, 1 August 2012. All consortiums feature expert instructors of best practices in Hospitality & Tourism teaching and learning.
The Teaching Consortium, Research Consortium and the Leadership Consortium for the ICHRIE Career Advancement Academy are being offered prior to the 2012 Annual ICHRIE Summer Conference and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no additional cost to ICHRIE members whose institution has an institutional or premium membership. Individual members whose institutions do not have an institutional or premium membership may register for $50 and non-members may register on a “space available basis” only at a cost of $495. Please note that there is a strict limit of 50 participants for each of the consortiums and participants are expected to attend the entire day.
Teaching Consortium
Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 ICHRIE Teaching Consortium. The Consortium will convene on the first day of the ICHRIE Annual Conference at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island USA on Wednesday, 1 August 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The purpose of the teaching academy is to provide a forum for those members who are interested in new techniques and methods to sharpen their teaching effectiveness in the classroom environment. It will help to empower teachers and learners in the use of instructional technology and allow participants to share ideas regarding curricular issues and trends and give insights into the life of an administrator.

Research Consortium
Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 ICHRIE Teaching Consortium. The Consortium will convene on the first day of the ICHRIE Annual Conference at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island USA on Wednesday, 1 August 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The research consortium will bring together a diverse group of leading hospitality and tourism scholars to engage in a conversation with attendees that will stimulate reflection and generate ideas to enhance research and career development. The intention of these discussions is not to identify correct approaches or best strategies for junior faculty to follow, but rather to try to help each scholar to discover his or her own approach.

Leadership Academy
Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 ICHRIE Teaching Consortium. The Consortium will convene on the first day of the ICHRIE Annual Conference at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island USA on Wednesday, 1 August 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The leadership consortium will examine the many facets of leadership. This includes not only leadership of an academic unit but leadership in other organizations such as professional associations, advisory boards, and industry. Designed for current leaders or individuals who want to expand their administrative career options, this track will provide information about leadership qualities; styles of leadership; and leadership challenges such as creating a vision, developing curriculum, raising funds, budgeting, hiring and motivating staff, evaluating professionals, coordinating advisory groups, and using various models of communication and consultation.
