Industry Day sessions at the Annual ICHRIE Summer Conference are in-depth and thought-provoking looks at industry topics and trends impacting the corporate hospitality community. This is your best opportunity as educators, researchers and directors of hospitality, tourism and culinary programs, to learn about the issues facing the next generation of industry leaders and educators.

Session I | 1:15 to 2:45pm
Topic: What Do Our Graduates Think of Us?

We all survey our graduates and lean on our extensive industry relations to help us improve and adapt our programs but when have we collectively asked a large pool of people working in the industry what they think of us, the educators.

The pilot research ICHRIE industry board have conducted with the help of STR has just done that. In this session you will:

  • Be the first to discover the results of the pilot study sent to some 250 higher education institutions teaching hospitality and tourism management.
  • Participate in working groups to interpret and discuss the implications of the findings.

Session II | 3 to 4:30pm
Topic: The inside track from Industry Leaders

Global Hotel Industry Overview – A look at worldwide hotel performance and development trends. Performance metrics of various continents and subcontinents will be compared. The presentation will review latest data for countries and major markets around the world. The impact of special events in the last couple of years, such as Olympics and World Cup will also be examined. Recent supply changes will be analyzed in different areas of the world, including the most recent popular brands and markets. Future pipeline data will also be displayed, including the newest hot brands and the development locations of the future. Specific hotel companies will weigh in on the trends and share their perspectives.
