Summary
South Seattle Community College is a highly diverse college recruiting for a full-time tenure track faculty member in our new Bachelors of Applied Science Program in Hospitality Management. This new and exciting position will be part of an innovative opportunity to continue to build baccalaureate education in Hospitality Management at a community college in the Pacific Northwest. Position
A Tenure Track Instructor with emphasis in upper-division hospitality management courses and some lower division business classes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: The successful candidate must be committed to delivering stimulating and effective outcomes-based learning and distance learning, and assessment. Faculty responsibilities include undergraduate teaching and forging regional alliances with community, academic, and business leaders.
Professional Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching upper-division hospitality classes such as Lodging Operations, Human Resource Management, Hospitality Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Diversity and Culture. Continual program and curriculum development are part of the collateral duties of this position. In addition to teaching and scholarship, all faculty are expected to engage in academic advising, to assist the department with program assessment, and to serve on campus-wide committees.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Hospitality or business related field; two years recent experience in the hospitality industry; a minimum of at least one year teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in hospitality or related field; experience working in a diverse environment; experience developing curriculum; experience developing and teaching on-line classes; experience with hotel/tourism industry activities; experience at a four-year institution.
Salary
Salary is commensurate with the faculty contract. This is a tenure-track faculty position with an attractive benefits package, which includes excellent medical, dental and vision insurance, and retirement benefits.
