 For the Vice President

Susan Fournier
Leadership Programme Director

Background Statement:
Currently I am the Leadership Programme Director at César Ritz Colleges Switzerland, where I have been teaching Hospitality Management for the past 15 years. In 2002 I became a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) and this year completed my MSc with Manchester Metropolitan University. Having participated at EuroCHRIE and ICHRIE conferences for the past ten years, my initial contribution to ICHRIE was to serve on the CAHM accreditation board from 2005-2008. For the past three years I have served on the Board of EuroCHRIE, for my first term as Director of Conferences and currently as Director of Networking. My participation in ICHRIE has motivated me to develop as an educator and provided me with the opportunity to meet, learn from and share research interests with colleagues from around the world as well as making some wonderful friends over the years.

Aspects of my background and experience that prepare me for making a significant contribution to International CHRIE as a Board member are the contacts and experience gained from the EuroCHRIE conference organization and board meetings, the insight into accreditation processes from ACPHA-CAHM, as well as my international perspective. Raised in the USA then living and teaching in Europe for the past 30 years, professionally I have had the opportunity to work with students and colleagues from many nations in a very multicultural environment. Finally with my son working in the hospitality industry in the People’s Republic of China for the past few years, I fully appreciate the value of the global network of educators and the internationalization ICHRIE fosters.

Platform Statement:
Special contributions I am willing to make in order to assist ICHRIE in its journey towards becoming a vibrant, global association are to encourage new membership based on the value ICHRIE membership brings to individuals and their institutions. The publications we support, ESD and the career academies offered at conferences are all great opportunities for individual growth, professional development and networking. To current members I wish to stress the importance of participation be it in Federation leadership/ committee, research, conferences, or by increasing industry contacts with our organization. The changes begun with Vision 2015 need to be continued to develop each federation and strengthen the ICHRIE brand to fulfill our vision “ICHRIE will become the recognized global leader in hospitality and tourism education and research.”
