The University of Missouri (MU) is seeking an individual to lead its fast-growing Hospitality Management program. The program currently has over 460 majors pursuing BS degree in Hospitality Management with emphasis in one of four areas: Lodging, Conference and Events, Food and Beverage, and Sport Venue Management. Graduate program has 15 MS or PhD students in Food and Hospitality Systems. Current research spans multiple areas of hospitality management.
This is a full-time tenured faculty position with 9-month appointment. The chair is expected to provide a vision for the program, lead the faculty to develop and implement a strategic plan, represent the program at local and national levels, conduct funded research in an area of hospitality management, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, promote professional development of faculty and students, enhance collaborations within the program and with other units on and off campus, and pursue advancement and funding opportunities for the program.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in hospitality management or a related field. Evaluation criteria include: research and teaching record appropriate for tenure, previous leadership experience in higher education, management experience in hospitality industry, excellent record of collaboration with researchers in hospitality or related areas, strong connections with professionals in hospitality and related areas, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
