Penn State’s School of Hospitality Management seeks applicants for a full-time fixed-term nine-month instructor to begin fall semester 2013. Individuals with expertise in food and beverage management, who also can teach other courses, such as club management, law, or strategic management are encouraged to apply for this position. In addition to course instruction, responsibilities will include advising students and industry outreach. The successful candidate will possess a master’s degree and demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence. Preference will be given to those with strong hospitality industry experience.
Penn State is a land-grant research institution with approximately 43,000 students at the University Park campus and 40,000 students at the other campus locations. The School of Hospitality Management is known for its dedication to teaching excellence. The School just celebrated its 75th anniversary and currently has approximately 650 undergraduate and 20 graduate students and a faculty of 25 full-time professors and instructors. Penn State’s surrounding community of State College is often described as a quintessential college town. The area boasts excellent schools, a reasonable cost of living, a rich cultural and sports scene, and excellent public transportation, including service by major airlines.
