The University of Rio Grande and Bob Evans Farms is seeking an Associate Director of Hospitality Management Program who will be responsible for providing leadership, as well as planning and curriculum development support to an exciting new joint academic venture in Hospitality Management. The Hospitality Management program at the University of Rio Grande will be transformational as a unique academic/corporate partnership. The new program, which offers degrees at both the associate and bachelor’s level, began in the fall semester, 2012. The program includes face-to-face, online and experiential learning with opportunities for Prior Learning Assessment credits. A unique internship program will be built into the degree with Bob Evans Farms in Rio Grande, Ohio and Columbus, Ohio.
The Associate Director of Hospitality Management Program will be a highly visible position. The position will be a faculty appointment with both teaching and administrator responsibilities. S/he should be a recognized expert in the field of Hospitality Management who will provide expertise and guidance in the following:
Assist in curriculum and program development, in collaboration with the Director and faculty from the Evans School of Business, university leadership and representatives from Bob Evans Farms, Inc., including some Advisory Council members.
Provide guidance in the preparation of required external accreditation for the program.
Represent the institution to external constituencies as requested.
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced degree in Hospitality Management or a closely related discipline. The candidate should possess at least five years (each) of relevant work experience in both the hospitality management workplace and in academic program development and leadership. The candidate should be familiar with online course delivery, experiential learning models, and external accreditation as well as be willing to work some evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:
Proactive leadership with a progressive management style.
Strong work ethic.
Ability to supervise adjunct faculty and staff.
Ability to create a vision for the program as well as communicate the vision to all constituents.
Networking with practitioners and academics within the hospitality industry.
Experience in cooperative education with a blend of academic and work integration.
A record of accomplishment of working with corporate sponsors in a changing environment.
