The L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at San Diego State University seeks an Assistant Professor, tenure-track faculty member beginning in academic year 2014/2015, with a meetings and events background and interest. Responsibilities include teaching classes in the area of meetings and events; performing scholarly work in publishing, research, and grant writing; providing service to the university and community; and assisting with the school’s Institute for Meetings & Events.
Preference will be given to applicants with actual experience and research in meetings and events. A Ph.D in hospitality management, business administration, or other field by the date of hire is required for appointment as an Assistant Professor. Teaching experience at the university level, demonstrated professional growth including research and publications, and service experience oriented to the professional field of meetings and events are also required. Industry experience is strongly preferred. A commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment with students from diverse backgrounds is essential. Salary commensurate with credentials and experience as specified in qualifications above.
