The School of Hospitality Business Director's Position
Title and Position: Director (AN) of The School of Hospitality Business in the Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.

The Broad College of Business is an international leader in business research and education. It maintains and extends this leadership through five academic departments. The School of Hospitality Business at MSU is internationally recognized as a leader in teaching, research, and service. It has an enrollment of approximately 800 undergraduate and graduate students, 11 tenure-system faculty members, including three endowed professors and two MSU Distinguished Professors. Additional faculty are adjunct instructors and professors of practice. The School has an 87-year history in hospitality business education, with alumni who have shaped the hospitality industry since the 1930s, as well as top-ranked faculty whose research and publications are utilized throughout the world. It is based on the foundations of Hospitality Business management and operations, as well as real estate development and management, and thinking like the owner. The next Director will be a strategic and visionary leader who will work closely with faculty, students, alumni, and the Dean. He or she will meet the criteria for a tenured full professor at the university and must have a substantial record of academic leadership, management, and alumni relations. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to foster a culture of high aspirations, collaborative team work, and transparent decision-making. He or she will also possess the ability to interact with, relate to, or teach, in a multi-cultural, diverse, academic environment. Above all, the successful candidate will have a proven record of promoting a student-centered educational experience and create and sustain a diverse and inclusive School community.
The Director is The School's chief academic officer. As such, he or she will have the responsibility to advance The School through:
- Fostering scholarship among faculty members and students
- Enhancing the culture of collaborative and enthusiastic teamwork within The School and among other units in the Broad College and across the MSU campus.
- Embracing the university's, college's and School's commitment to inclusiveness and diversity
- Engaging worldwide alumni in their support of The School's mission and initiatives.
- Continuing to foster strong bonds with industry partners.
- Practicing strong fiscal management of the budget and stewardship of School resources.
- Promoting The School to potential students, worldwide alumni, and industry partners.
- Fundraising to support The School's students, their educational experience, and School programs.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
