The Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management of the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, is a dynamic and growing educational and research center located in the heart of Manhattan. The Tisch Center offers an extensive complement of hospitality, tourism, and sports management academic programs, including two undergraduate programs for full-time traditional age students in residence, three graduate programs and corresponding graduate certificates, and continuing education courses and accelerated certificates. The Tisch Center educates and inspires its community to become effective leaders and agents of change across the businesses of hospitality, tourism, and sports management. Through rigorous higher education programs and long-standing industry relationships, conferences and events, the Tisch Center immerses future global citizens and corporate leaders in the energy, vitality, and dynamism of New York City business, culture, and education. The Tisch Center is especially well-known for organizing and operating the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference, which attracts 2,000 participants annually and generates significant scholarship support for our degree-seeking students.
The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position will provide full-time academic service to our undergraduate program in Hospitality and Tourism Management and graduate program in Hospitality Industry Studies. Full-time faculty members are expected to teach three degree courses per semester. In addition to teaching, each faculty member assists with student advisement and activities, curriculum planning, conducts applied research in the field, recruits and supervises adjunct faculty, and nurtures industry relationships.
Professional experience: The successful applicant will possess evidence of professional distinction in the field, significant industry experience, and appropriate academic credentials sufficient to merit appointment to the full-time faculty of the Tisch Center. An earned terminal graduate or professional degree is expected. For candidates who may not have had formal teaching experience within a university setting, other types of activities associated with higher education will be considered, including teaching in a professional environment, publications or evidence of excellent communication and analytical skills will be considered. Applicants should have experience in the following areas: lodging finance and development, and hospitality financial management.
Terms: This is a full-time, non-tenure, nine-month academic appointment to begin Spring 2014, if possible, or Fall 2014. Based on performance, the initial contract term is renewable. The rank of the position is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
