Associate Professor/Professor of Hospitality Management Program

The Hospitality Management Department at the University of New Hampshire invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Professor/Professor in Hospitality Management in the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics. The Paul College: The Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics is an AACSB accredited business school in the state of New Hampshire with world-class academic programs in business administration, economics, and hospitality management. We have 2,200 students in our undergraduate programs and 300 students in graduate programs, including MBA (full-time, part-time, executive, and online), MS Accounting, and MA and Ph.D. in Economics. Paul College is located at Paul Building, a state-of-the-art infrastructure with 115,000 sq. ft of space and high-tech classrooms, a behavioral research laboratory and breakout meeting rooms. The Hospitality Management Department enjoys 150 majors with a strategic growth initiative to grow to 400 students. The Paul College’s business programs and its Hospitality Management Program are both AACSB-accredited. The Hospitality Management Program is also ACPHA-accredited. In January 2013, the College moved into a new state-of-the-art building, and was renamed the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics.

The Position: The Associate Professor/Professor will oversee the Hospitality Management Department, with the primary mission of growing the academic program. The successful candidate will have the experience and demonstrated ability to: grow the department, recruit faculty, recruit and retain students, assess programmatic needs and recommend changes, manage resources and budgets, advise students when necessary, organize course scheduling, work with an External Advisory Board, and participate in College committees and initiatives. The individual will be expected to represent the College in the local and regional hospitality and tourism industry, and will demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service --position to begin Fall 2014.

Desired qualifications for this position include:

  • Earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in hospitality management, tourism, or closely related field;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with, and a full knowledge and understanding of, the multicultural populations in the hospitality industry;
  • Demonstrated record of administrative experience, research, teaching, and service in higher education;
  • Managerial experience in the hospitality industry preferred;
  • Proven leadership, written, and oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrate a strong connection with industry;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the professional community/industry leaders;
  • Refined communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

As a department in an AACSB-accredited business school, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research and publication agenda in peer-reviewed journals, teach courses on an annual basis, and provide outreach scholarship and service to the hospitality industry, the university, and the community.
