The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Resort Tourism Management at the Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning Fall 2014.
The individual hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. The teaching focus for this new colleague will be introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in Hospitality and Tourism Operations. And, it is anticipated that courses will be delivered via in-person, hybrid, and online learning formats. Further, there may be opportunities to teach in the M.B.A. program for these same subject areas. In addition to teaching responsibilities, our new colleague is expected to pursue a plan of professional development which includes hospitality- or tourism-related research that results in Scholarly Academic peer-reviewed publications and presentations. We would also anticipate our new colleague to be an active participant in relevant academic discipline-specific associations. Like all colleagues, this individual will be responsible for mentoring undergraduate students and working with student organizations, will contribute to the assessment of student learning outcomes, and will engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, college, campus, community and professional organizations.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Hospitality or a terminal degree in a related discipline. A.B.D's with a clear plan for completion by December 31, 2014 are also encouraged to apply. A candidate with a completed Ph.D. must have a consistent record of publication in refereed journals. Applicants must have abilities, skills and enthusiasm consistent with teaching excellence and instructional innovation within in-person, hybrid, and distance learning formats. They must be willing to work with a team of committed professionals who work together to offer a vigorous classroom experience for our students. Prior experience with distance learning would be beneficial.
