Instructor, Hospitality Management Program

The Hospitality Management Program within the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) seeks an Instructor (non-tenure-earning) with a start date of August, 2014.

Responsibilities: Primary emphasis will be placed on assisting the program director with teaching and program promotion and administration duties. Instructors are normally on a 4 course fall and 4 course spring (4/4/) teaching load; however, this particular position will include a teaching load of 2 fall, 2 spring (2/2) to permit for administrative and program promotion/outreach duties. The duties will include nights and weekends as necessary. Low to moderate travel is anticipated.

The successful candidate will also have a strong service role within local/regional/national hospitality organizations to assist the growth and development of the hospitality program.

Qualifications: The candidate must have a minimum of a master’s degree in hospitality/tourism management or similar area. The coursework must include a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours specifically in hospitality management or tourism.

There is a preference for a PhD, DBA, or EdD.

The ideal candidate will have their graduate education from an AACSB-accredited institution.

The eligible candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of hospitality and/or tourism college-level teaching experience with student and peer evaluations indicating excellence in comparison to his or her peers.

The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of hospitality industry experience, with at least 5 of those years at the senior managerial or executive level in roles such as hotel general manager, restaurant general manager/owner/operator, regional vice president, private country club general manager, casino general manager/senior director, etc.

Hospitality Industry Credentialed applicants are preferred (such as CHA, CHSE, CRME, CMP, or similar).

The Hospitality Management Program: The hospitality management program is one of the fastest-growing programs at the university. A Bachelor of Business Administration degree (BBA) is offered with a major in Hospitality & Tourism Management. The program focuses on current, relevant industry training and is the most rigorous of its type in the state university system (SUS).
