The Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware invites applications for a Clinical Instructor position in Dining Room Management in the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management (HRIM). This is a teaching position in which the applicant would be expected to provide a consistent and positive learning environment for students in the University of Delaware’s HRIM Vita Nova Restaurant/Lab. We are seeking forward-thinking and innovative individuals who dare to be first.

The position primarily consists of teaching and managing front of the house restaurant operations for undergraduate food laboratory restaurant courses providing instruction in buffet service and fine dining service styles (French, Russian and American). The duties include managing the dining room, guest relations, wine education, safety and sanitation, system controls, assurance of high standards of service, and teaching of industry related topics. This position works directly with the Director of Restaurant Operations in the fine dining student operated Vita Nova restaurant, a 60 seat upscale dining room on campus.

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field. A master’s degree is desirable but not required. A minimum of five years industry experience in restaurant management with upscale dining experience is also preferred. Salary, benefits, and support are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department of HRIM recently celebrated 25 years of innovation and excellence in hospitality education. HRIM has two undergraduate majors, Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management and Hospitality Industry Studies, and a Master’s degree in Hospitality Business Management and a minor in restaurant management.
