The University of South Carolina’s School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management of the College of Hospitality, Retail, & Sport Management invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to work with the International Institute for Foodservice Research and Education (IIFRE). The School serves over 700 students, 400 minors, 30 master’s students and a new Ph.D. program. It employs 15 full-time faculty and a number of distinguished adjunct faculty.
The Assistant, Associate or Full Professor will work directly with the Director of the International Institute for Foodservice Research and Education to obtain grants and research funding as well as to perform foodservice related research within the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. Some examples of research expertise could be broadly related to: obesity, health and wellness, behavioral economics, food safety, and nutrition. The IIFRE is dedicated to the advancement of foodservice and hospitality education through research, curriculum development, executive training and consultation.
This new faculty position will be responsible for excellence in research, teaching, service, and the pursuit of grants or contracts. The successful candidate must have evidence of or potential to develop an extramurally funded research agenda, be able to demonstrate a record of successful research and grant achievement, and a commitment to quality teaching. Evidence of ability or promise to obtain external funding is required. In addition to demonstrated research and grant achievement, candidates must possess an earned doctorate in hospitality management or closely related area and a distinguished record of scholarly and professional achievement. Experience in working in or with a research center or institute at a college or university is desirable.
