The Department of Management/Marketing at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts seeks an Assistant Professor of Hospitality and Event Management for a Fall 2013 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities could include undergraduate and graduate courses in a range of areas including Hospitality Management; Special Event Management; Food and Beverage Management; Global Issues in Hospitality; Casino Management, and other Hospitality/Event Management core courses depending upon the candidate’s area of specialization. An ability and interest in utilizing an active, project-focused approach to teaching is critical. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent, enthusiastic teaching and student advocacy; ability to work cooperatively and productively with faculty, staff and students; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in department and college service. Our growing major is looking to enhance and diversify offerings, pedagogical approaches, and personnel. The successful candidate will have the ability to shape the on-going development of this program in response to new potential markets and an expanding program curriculum. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, being involved with student organizations, serving on committees, participating in curriculum development, working with learning outcomes assessment, participation in program marketing and promotion, and networking with community and professional contacts. Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in hospitality management or related area is preferred; ABD or a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management with significant hospitality/event management experience will be considered. Prior college teaching experience preferred. The successful candidate must be able to work cooperatively and productively with faculty, staff and students, show evidence of excellent teaching and student advocacy, professional development and productivity and a commitment to department and college service.
