Assistant/Associate Professor, Hotel and Restaurant Management

Position
Nine-month tenure track teaching and research position at the Assistant/Associate level to begin on January 8th, 2014 or August 16th, 2014. Summer appointment is possible. Salary commensurate with qualifications. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for undergraduate and graduate instruction in the various areas of hospitality management, including distance education delivery. Participation in undergraduate student advisement is required and graduate committee service is expected. The selected candidate will be expected to engage in collaborative research and instruction with colleagues in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Management. Development of professional and scholarly activities is expected. Involvement in university and community service and the development of industry partnerships is expected.

Qualifications
A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, or a related field, demonstrated knowledge in the areas of expertise as well as strong communication, writing, and research skills; evidence of effective teaching; demonstrated potential/ability to secure external funding for research in the hotel and restaurant field as related to the program’s central emphasis on service excellence. Must be prepared to develop and teach curriculum in a variety of areas including Hotel Operations, Hospitality Law, Facilities Management and Tourism. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills required.

This interdisciplinary department is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences. The department offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree options that include campus-based programming as well as a master’s degree distance education option. The Hotel and Restaurant Management Program’s undergraduate enrollment is approximately 200 students.
