A Research Fellow is required to work on a newly-funded ESRC 18 month project: ‘Labour productivity, work flexibility and international migration in hotels’. The study aims to analyse the relationships between the employment of migrant workers, and flexible working practices, and labour productivity. It has privileged access to data for around 80 hotels at hotel, departmental, and individual employee level, on a daily basis, over a continuous six-year period that spans the 2008+ economic crisis.
The project and research contract will commence on October 1st, 2013. The applicant must have a PhD in Economics, Management, or Hospitality/Tourism Management, or be close to completion. Knowledge of econometrics, or advanced quantitative methods, and research experience in productivity, and either HR studies, or labour economics are essential. Time series analysis is an essential component of the research.
The Research Fellow will work closely with a team that consists of Professor Allan Williams, Dr Sangwon Park, Professor Andrew Lockwood, and Professor Peter Jones.
