Pineapples can be Jack o’ Lanterns too!

As we move into our fall season, our #pineapplepassion can continue as we can craft our pineapples into jack o’ lanterns!  Find a way to show your creativity by tagging #pineapplepassion as your spirit to our NENA Federation Page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ICHRIENENA/).

This year the federation has been working hard to prepare for our time together in New York. The annual HX: The Hotel Experience, held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, November 11-12, 2018 in New York City will be exciting for all. The NENA CHRIE Experience in New York (formally Alligator Hour) event will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 6:00pm–8:00pm EST at HB Burger located at 127 W 43rd Street #2; in the lower level of the restaurant. Complimentary appetizers will be served throughout the evening along with a cash bar. Our tradition will continue to have a 50/50 raffle with proceeds benefiting the NENA Promise Awards; so please be sure to bring some extra cash!

Please register in advance for this event at: https://nenaexperienceny2018.eventbrite.com

Donna Albano has worked very hard organizing an ad-hoc committee of volunteers to design an educational session for the HX: Experience GenFWD Program. The NENA sponsored session, Event Planning—Beyond the Classroom, is scheduled for 12 noon to 1pm on Sunday, November 11th. The session audience is geared toward students. This however, is a part of the conference package and there is an increase in registration fees to attend. Thank you for all of your hard work, Donna!

Session details can be found at: https://www.thehotelexperience.com/HX2018/Public/SessionDetails.aspx?FromPage=Sessions.aspx&SessionID=255&SessionDateID=16

The annual NENA Federation Fall Meeting will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 7:30am-10:00am at Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism at New York University (NYU) Midtown campus located at 11 West 42nd Street in the Gural Conference room on the 4th floor. A special thank you goes out to NYU for being our host for this meeting and providing us with a continental breakfast, which will be available from 7:30am–8:00am. An industry speaker will present from 8:00am-9:00am followed by the NENA federation business meeting, which will conclude by 10:00 am.

Since we must provide security with an attendee list for building access, please register by 11/2 to attend the meeting through Eventbrite: https://nenafall2018.eventbrite.com

Just as the season changes and you go from pina colada’s to pineapple jack o’ lanterns, I would like to thank Shiang-Lih McCain for serving for the last two years as the Director of Education. We wish you luck on your transition into a new federation. I would also like to welcome our new interim Direction of Education from the SECSA federation, Lynsey Madison, from the Community College of Philadelphia. Lynsey will serve in this director role until elections in the spring.

Looking forward to our time to network together in NYC this November.
