Fixed Term Faculty/Director of Real Estate Investment Management

Position Summary
The School of Hospitality Business in the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed-term faculty member with responsibilities in teaching Real Estate Investment Management, Financial Management, and related courses. The candidate will also be the faculty Director of the School of Hospitality Business Real Estate Investment Management (REIM) minor. This is a nine-month academic year appointment. The position is subject to annual review and renewal. Additional summer teaching and administrative opportunities are possible with additional compensation.

Responsibilities

  • The Fixed Term Instructor and Director of Real Estate Investment and Management will have the dual responsibility of teaching REIM courses and building and strengthening the REIM minor.
  • The incumbent will teach undergraduate and graduate hospitality business courses (including hospitality financial modeling, hospitality real-estate feasibility, hospitality valuations, and hospitality accounting). Teaching responsibilities may change, within the applicant’s area of expertise, based on the needs of The School of Hospitality Business.
  • As Director, the incumbent will ensure that the REIM academic content is relevant and current and reach out to the hospitality real estate community to seek support of the REIM minor in part by finding internship opportunities, raising funds in support of the program, and seeking professionals to assist with work-shops and guest lectures as appropriate.
  • There are no research requirements for this position.
  • Required Degree: Masters -Hospitality Business or a related field
  • Desired Degree: Doctorate -Hospitality Business or a related area

Minimum Requirements

  • The minimum academic qualification is a master’s degree in relevant area of concentration/discipline with at least one degree in hospitality business or related field.
  • A Ph.D. in hospitality business or related area of concentration/discipline is desired.
  • A record of successful hospitality real estate investment and management is required.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience in teaching, program development, outreach, and international hospitality management experience.
