Last week, ICHRIE's Fran Brasseux (ICHRIE Executive Director) and Dr. Ralf Burbach (ICHRIE President and Assistant Head of the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism at Technological University Dublin) hit the road in sunny Florida, USA. During their four-day road trip, they traveled to see ICHRIE family at several universities and made several stops along the way. We are excited to share their adventure with you!
DAY 1
FIRST STOP -- In the morning, Fran and Ralf visited Dr. Cihan Cobanoglu at Muma College of Business, University of South Florida, in Tampa, Florida.
SECOND STOP - In the evening, Fran and Ralf attended the North American Assocation of Food Equipment Manufacturers Annual Conference. Every year, the NAFEM recognizes individuals from industry and volunteer organizations for their contribution to the food service industry at their bi-annual show. This year, the huge NAFEM show (20,000 plus visitors) was held at the Orange County Convention Centre, Orlando, Florida. At a special award ceremony just before the kickoff party, Ralf was awarded a Doctorate of Foodservice. This was a very proud moment.
THIRD STOP - Fran and Ralf visited Dr. Wang at UCF. Ralf also met with Dr. Youcheng Wang (Dean & Preeminent Chair Professor), and they visited A Land Remembered Restaurant at Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando.
DAY 2
TODAY'S STOP - Fran & Ralf attended the University of Central Florida, Rosen College of Hospitality Management Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series as Ralf was invited as a guest speaker. They had the bonus of attending the Student Career Day with Universal with Dr. Wang. What a great day in Orlando!
DAY 3
TODAY'S STOP - Fran and Ralf traveled to Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. They meet with Dr. Ruth Smith and the faculty from the Department of Hospitality Management. Thank you for the welcome and hospitality, Bethune-Cookman University!
DAY 4
FINAL STOP - Fran and Ralf’s final road trip day was spent at the fabulous and fun Florida International University. Their time included a campus tour of Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and a visit with Dr. Michael Cheng.
