UN Tourism is facilitating the planning and implementation of the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism 2027 (IYSRT 2027), as mandated by the United Nations General Assembly. As part of the initiative, UN Tourism has invited ICHRIE, along with several international tourism and research organizations, to participate in an onboarding webinar introducing the International Year and opportunities for organizational and member engagement.
ICHRIE is sharing this information as a resource for members who may be interested in learning more about the initiative and exploring opportunities to contribute their research, expertise, and perspectives. The International Year places a focus on sustainability and resilience while creating opportunities for the global tourism sector and research community to contribute to broader conversations about the future of tourism.
About IYSRT 2027
The International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism 2027 is intended to support knowledge development, collaboration, capacity building, and the advancement of sustainability and resilience objectives across the tourism sector. The initiative also provides a framework for considering how tourism can contribute to discussions and priorities beyond 2030.
The onboarding webinar will provide an overview of the initiative, including:
- The IYSRT 2027 framework, thematic areas, and implementation roadmap
- National Committees and capacity-building opportunities
- Knowledge and research
- Partnerships
- Communications, the IYSRT portal, and brand guidelines
- Opportunities for engagement and participation
Webinar Information
UN Tourism is offering two sessions to accommodate participants across time zones. Both sessions will be conducted in English and will run for approximately one hour.
