Position and Availability
The position is a nine-month, tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor Level specializing in Food and Beverage Management in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Management beginning Spring or Fall, 2023. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities will include food and beverage-oriented classes offered across all three study options for the B.S. in Hospitality Management. Bachelor's degree options currently offered include Hotel and Restaurant Management, Event Management, and Culinary Science. More specifically this faculty member will be responsible for all food and beverage lectures and laboratory teaching in the 1856 Restaurant in the new Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center. Courses will include Food Production and Service in Hospitality, Food and Beverage Management, and other beverage-oriented classes. The successful applicant would participate in the formation of department policies related to the undergraduate curriculum, and engage in undergraduate academic advising and recruitment for the program. The faculty member will be reviewed annually by the Department Head. Based on the College and Department Promotion and Tenure guidelines. The successful candidate is expected to engage in research and other scholarship and service consistent with the expectations of a tenure track faculty appointment.

Qualifications
The candidate must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in hospitality management, food service management, or a closely related field at the time of employment. Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of industry experience in the food and beverage sector. The candidate should be familiar with accreditation procedures and national standards for the discipline. The candidate is expected to collaborate with the Hospitality Management faculty on research, as well as to provide service and/or industry connections to the school, college, and university. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English. Desired qualifications include certification by the Society of Wine Educators, Guild of Master Sommeliers or Wine and Spirit Education Trust. The ideal candidate will also have experience with program development, assessment, delivery of assessment, and experience in the management of educational or commercial culinary or restaurant operations.

Setting
This interdisciplinary department is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences. The department offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in hospitality management that include campus-based programming as well as a master’s degree distance education option. The Hospitality Management Program’s undergraduate enrollment is approximately 250 students. Program faculty are intent upon doubling this number over the next 5-7 years across all three study options including Hotel and Restaurant Management, Event Management, and Culinary Science. All programming will be delivered in the Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center, which will be completed in the summer of 2022. This 142,000 square-foot education center will house six floors of state-of-the-art hospitality teaching classrooms and hands-on learning laboratories. The center will house several food production laboratories, a commercial food production kitchen, a student training restaurant (1856 Restaurant), a bakery and coffee roasting facility, a microbrewery, wine, and distilled spirits education laboratories, a spa, a rooftop garden, and event center, and an ultra-luxury training hotel (The Laurel). The center will also feature a very interactive food hall encompassing two business incubation units.
