Assistant Professor, Travel Industry Management (Surface Transportation Management) Position No. 82479 Founded in 1966, the School of Travel Industry Management pioneered the integration of all aspects of travel—hospitality, tourism, and transportation—in a single academic unit. As a premier tourist destination, Hawaii provides faculty and students with a living laboratory for research, outreach, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. The School is housed within the Shidler College of Business, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Its facilities include the Sunset Reference Center, with one of the largest specialized collections of travel and tourism resource materials in the region; the Gee Technology Center with an IT classroom, videoconferencing, and distance learning capabilities; the Leong Hop & Bernice C. Loui Computer Lab; and the Center for Tourism Policy Studies, which conducts applied research and provides executive training programs and technical assistance to the industry. Assistant Professor of Travel Industry Management (Position No. 82479), School of Travel Industry Management, Shidler College of Business, University of Hawaii at Manoa, 9-months, full-time, tenure-track, general funds, to begin approximately August 2023. Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the management of surface transportation (railways, private and rental vehicles, buses, motorcoaches, ferries, etc.) as it pertains to tourism, and additional subjects based on programmatic need and the candidate’s area(s) of specialization. These area(s) may include principles of logistics, maritime and air transport management, and environmental, strategic, and/or international transportation issues. Engage in research and scholarly activities leading to publications on surface transportation as it pertains to tourism; provide professional, University, and department service; advise undergraduate and graduate students; and supervise graduate student research.
