Dear colleagues and friends,

It is with great honor to serve as the West Federation CHRIE president for 2023-2024. My name is Sandra Ponting. I am an associate professor in the L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at San Diego State University. I have been in hospitality and tourism management education for 18 years, and lucky enough to have lived and worked in four different countries. I have been a member of WFCHRIE since 2015 and continue to be inspired by colleagues and friends who are dedicated to innovating hospitality and tourism research and education.

With a hardworking and dedicated WFCHRIE board of directors, we are looking forward to an exciting and productive year. Please stay tuned for 2024 conference updates. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear friends and colleagues,

I am excited to announce that the call for proposals for the 2024 West Federation CHRIE Regional Conference is attached!  The conference will take place on February 1-3, 2024 in Denver, Colorado. Metropolitan State University will be our host.  It's already shaping up to be a fantastic event, and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Please join us for this great opportunity to advance your knowledge while networking with colleagues in the beautiful city of Denver. Key-note speakers and peer reviewed presentations will help keep you up-to-date on the latest industry and teaching trends.

Call for Proposals

The 2024 WFCHRIE conference invites researchers, educators, and students to submit their original work via Easychair. The call for proposals includes 4 types of submissions: 

a) 20-minute stand-up presentation focused on completed research; 

b) 15-minute stand-up speed presentation focused on research in progress; 

c) poster presentation; and, 

d) 50-minute roundtable/seminar/workshop. 

The deadline for proposal submissions is Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. PST - no exceptions! Authors will be notified with submission-review decisions by December 17th. Please find additional details in the attachment.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

WestCHRIE is pleased to call for the nomination for the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award, sponsored by California State University, Sacramento. This award recognizes significant achievements of individuals in developing a diverse and inclusive environment throughout the hospitality and tourism education, academia, industry, and/or community. The award will be presented at 2024 WF CHRIE Conference, February 1-3. The award winner will be registered by California State University, Sacramento and expected to attend the in-person.
