Dear ICHRIE ESD Advisors,
Wishing everyone a wonderful beginning to the fall 2024 semester.
It was great to see many of you at the ICHRIE annual conference in Montreal, Canada.
Thank you for all your do for your students as the ICHRIE ESD Faculty Advisor.
As we begin this academic year, I would like to share some important information as it relates to our upcoming initiatives for ESD students and advisors as well as important reminders about planning your induction ceremony(s).
As the ESD BOG Chair, I work closely with Mary Richards, Advancement Specialist at the ICHRIE office to manage all things ESD. We are already sending out ESD ceremony materials for Fall 2024. If you have not yet started planning your induction ceremony, we encourage you to start thinking about it.
Once you know your ESD Induction Ceremony date and have identified those students eligible for induction, please complete the ESD Induction Ceremony Request Form to ensure you receive your ESD materials in advance of your Induction Ceremony.
*International ESD induction packages take more time to arrive – so please plan accordingly.
We are requesting that you consider the following timelines:
Domestic induction packages:
-
No less than 5 weeks advanced notice.
International induction packages:
-
No less than 6 weeks advanced notice.
Other important information for ESD Induction Ceremonies:
-
It IS an option for you to print your own ESD student certificates, please specify whether you prefer this option when requesting materials.
-
Honor cords and ESD pins will always need to be shipped in advance of your ceremony so the above timeframes will still apply even if you are printing certificates yourself.
-
Please specify if the university or individual students will be paying their ESD induction fee of $50 per ESD membership.
-
ICHRIE ESD Memberships last the duration of the student’s time as a university student, please remind students to include their anticipated graduation date when they complete their ESD Membership.
-
Information and resources for student or school payment, student membership sign up process can all be found on the ICHRIE website at the following link:
We would also like to encourage you and your students to join the Eta Sigma Delta International CHRIE Honor Society | Groups | LinkedIn group.
Please the date for our first lecture series “Research Paper 101” on Friday, September 27th at 3:00 pm ET in preparation for the spring Undergraduate Research Symposium. Share with your students and encourage them to attend!
In an effort to continually bring value to ESD students and Advisors, we are taking the pulse about your plans to attend the free IMEX America, Las Vegas, Nevada, 8-10 October 2024!
We have a sense that many of you attend and bring students like ESD Board of Governors members Godwin-Charles Ogbeide (MSU Denver) and Stacey Smith (Fort Hays State University). Additionally, several ICHRIE faculty members take part in Faculty Engagement Program as part of the show. The call for papers will be out from IMEX in late August.
As we explore opportunities for ESD in the future, how many are already planning to attend? This event is FREE to faculty and students!
Please send an email to Mary Richards [email protected] and let us know if you plan to attend! It is our plan to coordinate some informal “meet ups” at the show and forward think about more formal ways to engage next year. Please respond by Friday, September 13 if you plan on attending IMEX America this year.
Please note: There will not be a formal program in NYC this Fall but hope you can save the date for our first lecture series “Research Paper 101” on Friday, September 27th at 1:00 pm ET in preparation for the spring Undergraduate Research Symposium.
All the best this upcoming semester,
Donna Albano
