The School
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) at USF provides an intellectual, collaborative, ethical, inclusive learning environment for students pursuing leadership positions in hospitality and tourism. SHTM graduates leaders for these industries to serve citizens of Florida, the U.S., and the world. The School offers hospitality degree in all three campuses of USF. The School has deep relationship with McKibbon Hospitality, a 100+ hotel management company, MainSail Lodging and Development, a 15+ upscale hotel chain, and Aramark, a global food service management company.

The Program
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management offers an undergraduate degree program, and a Master of Science degree program. The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality Management has a general business foundation with specialized hotel and restaurant management courses that equip students to approach problem solving in a disciplined and systematic manner. The Master of Science program in Hospitality Management educates students to use strategic development techniques in a variety of private, public and institutional sectors of hospitality environments. This program is designed to foster strong analytical skills, technological abilities, effective communication, and strong logical ethical approaches to the hospitality industry and academia. USFSM graduates are highly marketable and competitive at all levels regional, national, and global. The Hospitality Management program utilizes an Advisory Board, which is composed of leaders from major hospitality/tourism related corporations and organizations. Periodic reviews of course curriculum and enhancements prepare students for future career challenges.

The Position
USFSM is seeking an Assistant Professor within the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. The successful applicant for this position will be teaching undergraduate and graduate hospitality courses, producing research, and offering service to the university, community, and hospitality industry. The competitive candidate will be teaching hospitality management courses.

Hospitality Information Systems, Hospitality Finance & Accounting. The position will teach other courses as needed, such as Lodging Management, event management, and other hospitality-related courses. Tenure Track positions teach a minimum of two courses in the fall and two courses in the spring semesters, taught on all USF campuses and/or maybe web-based and taught partially hybrid.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in Hospitality Management or closely related discipline from a regionally accredited university with 18 graduate credit hours within the hospitality discipline. ABDs will be considered but successful candidates should have successfully defended their dissertations by the time of appointment, provided they have successfully published in SSCI-indexed hospitality/business journals.
  • 3 years of hospitality industry managerial work experience
  • Record of research/scholarship commensurate with experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Online & hybrid teaching experience
  • Experience teaching hospitality management courses
  • Certifications such as CHTP, CHAE, CHE, CHIA, M3 Insight
